Doing Justice: Israel/Palestine

Jan 24, 2024

Israel/Palestine is a sacred place to all Abrahamic faiths, considered to be “The Holy Land.” For many Christians, the tender emotions  are also mixed with concern over the ongoing tensions and conflict. What might it look like to hold God’s love, justice, mercy, peace, and hope as the lens through which we view the realities of this sacred land?

This Micah Intensive will take a direct look at how Christians view Israel/Palestine and how our engagements in the region have direct implications on its residents. The goal of this content is to begin to understand the theology and values that drive people to land in one part of the spectrum or another, so that we can learn to engage in courageous conversation and move nearer to God’s will for us.

Here is some of what we will explore together:

  • An introduction to Israel/Palestine, including defining key terms and fundamental challenges and conflicts;
  • Personal stories and testimonies from a variety of cultural contexts; and
  • Biblical, theological, and social reflection on three different Christian responses to Israel/Palestine: (1) Covenantal Inheritance, (2) Saving Grace, and (3) Land for All People.
